2012 Horseshoe Tournament

Rumor has it we hadn't been to the Shuswap in 9 years. ( I was in the area for a scrapbooking retreat last year.) Not since our last camping trip with the Wallmans, when we came home the day of the biggest fire storm ever in our area. I remember the smoke and wondering where it was coming from. I remember trying to get a hold of K&H to tell them they were evacuated from their home. I remember everyone camping at our house.  I don't remember much else. Emily remembers the ice cream from the campground that was once Franks, but is now an empty field. Kerry remembers never wanting to camp again with a dog.
And so we never camped again.
Then last year, we 'inherited' the gramper. Sure it's old, kind of ugly, needs work/love, but hey, it was free and fully loaded. And it doesn't smell. That's big in my books. So when we got the invite to the 2012 Horseshoe Tournament we thought it would be a great maiden voyage for the truck and gramper. Only downside, the truck doesn't have air conditioning, so we must travel by first light.
We had a blast. Met new people, and old people. Got off the black list for not being there for 9 years or at least I think we did. Even had some repairs fixed in the gramper. Now the fridge, stove, and furnace have no excuse for not working. Now my fear of sleeping in the gramper increased 10 fold.

What a great bunch of people! Nothing but laughs and jokes the whole time. Someone needed multiple naps on Saturday but this someone needed them on Sunday. I couldn't keep my eyes open on the way home, very similar to our California trip. I missed a lot of scenery, and we took the scenic route home, I saw Chase and some of Vernon. Don't know what was in between.
Kerry used his long forgotten bowling skills to help him and Jeff (who had is own set of skills) win the trophy. Oddly, no one wanted to take it home, even though Jeff did a great job!

And like all winners, he took a moment of thankfulness down on the dock. We woke up hours before everyone else and took a walk. Holidays aren't for sleeping in when you both work early mornings.
It should not be another 9 years before we go back.

Project Life Photo Overload

I haven't been posting my Project Life progress. There has been some progress. It's slow. Marg and I get together about once a month and I think we get things done. I haven't worked on it by myself very much. Work is interfering in play time.
I snapped these photos fairly quickly, I didn't crop or edit them, so they aren't the best.
I picked a bunch of pages randomly to post. I don't think I posted them before.
February. Cleaned up my craft space, again.
Made Valentine treats for Emily's friends.
Played in the snow.
Ate good food.
Smoked a brisket for Valentine's day.
Got Valentine's Facebook messages.

 Watched The Walking Dead.
Shaun organized some of his books, upside down, which bothered me.
Our Urban Harvest bin had watermelon radishes in it. They were pretty good.
Made some crispy bread things with the date coffee loaf Shaun brought home from work.
Made a zillion buttons for Yolanda's roller derby team.
Didn't journal.
Removed the cupboard in the kitchen.
Went to Memphis Blues with Michelle and Matt.
Get another Urban Harvest bin.
Got sicker than a dog.
 Tried Annie's seaweed.
Went out for dinner, probably with Misty-Rae and Lorana.
Made some Donna Downey inspired art.
Kerry and Emily baked.
Worked on my lettering assignments.
Bought steak pies at the farmer's market.
Bought myself new clippers in preparation for Spring.
Hair appointment.
Drove the truck to work.
Bought myself an immersion blender in preparation for soup.
 Found these 12x6 page protectors.
Kerry made my garden boxes.
Easter Dinner at Mom and Dad's.
Played Things. Had a lot of laughs.
I always feel like somebody's watching me.
Michelle brought back more graham Scooby snacks for me.
I bought some ugly new shoes for working out.
Girl Guide cookie time.
New logo on disks.
 Emily's birthday tea party.
Shaun and Jenn's hamsters.
And this is where I'm at. I've got the pictures but not all the embellishments or journalling.
A rose from mom for Mother's day.
A goofy dog rolling in the grass.
Beautiful couples.
Misty-Rae and Dave came for dinner.

And this is where all the magic should happen, my little Project Life corner.

June's stuff

I took this photo with my iphone, in the corner of the living room, with the wall to my back and the window of the door on my left. I like it. I didn't realize how crappy I must look normally in colour because after I posted it to Facebook, I got a lot of comments on it. Now to figure out how to live in black and white....

I was asked by Kerry's co-worker to shoot her wedding. I am not promoting myself as a wedding photographer. It's not that I don't love shooting them, but I don't love the work after. And the stress beforehand. I said yes, it was Kim, I couldn't say no. If I could shoot small, intimate weddings like this all the time, I think I would.
They have this great beach lot, and there's this cute little church near by, that's where they got married. The weather held out just long enough for me, it did start raining as I left. I've got a few days off and am working on the photos. I love looking at all the photos I have taken and seeing the happiness and love their friends and family have for them. What a great bunch of people! So glad I could be a part of it all.
Downside to shooting weddings...I can't help but get teary eyed, doesn't matter if it's a stranger, and when Kim started crying, I almost lost it. Must toughen up!

In other news...
It's finally stopped raining and the sun has come out. I'm not acclimatized to the heat yet and it's killing me.
My favourite Disneyland shirt has 2 little holes in it. It's been almost 2 years and I think it's time to go back.
I'm turning 40 this year, Kerry said if I don't decide on something to do for my birthday, he will choose for me, that has me a tad scared. I've got ideas.
We'll be taking the grandper out soon, I'm not looking forward to it, not being acclimatized and all. It smells like old man too. I think I'll Febreeze it good this week.
AND the bestest part of my last week...I'm to totally avoid dairy products, watch my msg and my sulphite  intake. I thought the doctor said to "avoid eating anything with sauce you didn't make", and after I said to Emily "that shouldn't be too hard". She said the doctor said "avoid eating anything you didn't make". Whoa! Big difference. Huge difference. Life altering! Sauce I can do without. Food I didn't make...That means potato chips!
