Productive day at last!

I made this yesterday, it's a sample for a class. I'll put pictures of Emily's friends in it for her and she can have it when I'm done with it. It's full of tags and other goodies. I used an SU kit and my brand spankin' new Crop-a-dile. You know, the one I said I didn't need, would never buy. The one I tried at Yo's and fell in love with and tried to sneak home in my shirt. It cuts through 5 folded paper bags like a hot knife through butter! And it's left or right handed! LOOOOVE it!

I watch Hallmark movies just to see the commercials, they make me cry everytime. So it's no wonder I got teary eyed at seeing Sally playing tug-o-war with Linus. She's not a dog (at least in her mind), so she doesn't play with other dogs. She's far more interested in what the humans are doing if she has the choice.

We were worried that she might not take to Linus, but she has really surprised us and has done better than we could have hoped for. She does growl at him, like when he wants to lay on her or eat her food, but overall, she's tolerating the little pest, better than Kerry is! That's a whole other story, he's quite funny really, and kind of a big baby himself. Anyway, back to puppies...Sally will dangle the 'grinch arm' over Linus's head and when he tries to grab the end, she turns her head. She will trot around the table so that he chases her and she will go slow enough for him and then sprint away when he catches up. It's so funny to see her taunting him, but he gets tired of it and lays down and then she starts again with the dangling over his head. Kerry told Linus he could totally relate because that's what his brother did to him, where as I can relate the other way, my brother was a pest.

And who knew that by getting a puppy not only would I never get the housework done, but I would be spending more time outside puppysitting and doing yard work that I did all last year? Okay, I have vacuumed more in the last 4 days than normal, but that darn pup brings in so much grass, he's always got some hanging out of his mouth.

Kerry's gross thought of the day...Linus has no tail so therefore he can't properly pump the poop out and might get some stuck. My reply was that there is no tail to attach cling-ons to and that's another pro for the poor tailess thing! He's either going as a bunny rabbit or Eeyore for Halloween.

A BIG thank you!!!

It takes Heather emailing me to say Congratulations for me to figure out that I'm a WINNER!!! Even though really I'm a loser for not checking the POTP site more often.

Not only did I win the grandprize for the on-line crop weekend, I won two of the Scrappy Awards. One for most inovative layout and one for most amazing alteration.
I feel extremely honoured!

Just because...

I got a few pictures of the puppies playing. Blurry action shots, I don't know what Sally is doing, some fancy foot work obviously. It's funny how she's going all out and Linus isn't even watching.
She got her hair shaved off over the weekend. Poor thing, now her nether regions get the odd breeze and it freaks her out.
April is coming!
This means beaucoup de birthdays for us. Heather, Nancy, Dawn, Kurt, Doreen, Emily, and Jordan, and I'm sure I'm missing someone. Also Easter is in there too. And my imaginary friend, Terrell and her family are coming to town in April. And it's Kerry's mom's 70th, so we are having a birthday bash. Ugh... good thing I have started doing yard work, I better start the housework too.

crazy

This is not my layout, I saw it on ebay. The winning bid...$760!
Granted it's beautiful, full of detail and hours and hours of work went into it, but come on, who in their right mind would pay $760?
Don't get me wrong. I know first hand that handmade items are under valued.
I'd like to be a fly on the wall at the winning bidders house.
Hubby: What's in the parcel that came today?
Wife: You won't believe the deal I found on ebay.
Hubby: Here's the number of my lawyer.

Or...
Wife: Look what I bought on ebay! I paid $760 for it.
Good friend(as a good friend should do): What the @#$%*!!!! Are you stoopid?

Or...
Wife: Look what I made!
Friend: OOOOOooooHHHH! It's dang beautiful, make me one!
Wife: Ah.....(insert shifty eyes)

Totally different subject...
Linus had a friend over. The neighbours youngest shelty came over the fence to play this evening and even Sally had a good time. I think Linus is rubbing off on her. He sure was 'rubbing off' on Arwen the shelty. I had to cover my eyes. Rotten dawg!

Yawn...

The on-line crop over at Pick of the Patch is just finishing up. I didn't get much done today, I had a class, but last night Heather and I went to Yolanda's. I can't believe we didn't get home until after 3 a.m.

We had a blast! Got some stupid pictures and got a bit of stuff done. Now I'm off to win the bingo game and then to Walmart for milk and TP.

Puppy Power!

I miss my daddy!

Ooops how did that get in here and who is it?
My grandma and me.

Is this the Bumpa that Sally was talking about? He's gonna spoil me too!

I'm resigning to the fact I might never get to sleep for more than 2 hours at a time ever again. I can't even nap. I'll probably be able to get lots of sleep in the hospital after I'm admitted for pneumonia.

Today at Grand Central, we had more visitors than we have had all year! First Heather came to visit and meet Linus for the first time, then Em's friend came, then Yolanda and her blondies showed up with goodies from Michaels! And then they all stayed and we had a great visit, we need to do that more. Then my 'fav. cuz.' came with her sister, my '2nd fav.' and they hung out with the dogs for awhile too. Poor Linus was so tired. Both dogs got goldfish tails from Yo's girls.

And Sally actually tried to play with Linus this afternoon, although he's been trying since yesterday to get her to play, she scared him and he rolled over and played dead. I know it will work out eventually. He so wants to play, sleep and hang with her.

New Puppy Blues

So I didn't get any sleep last night and it wasn't all Linus's fault, my cold is making it hard to sleep, although a puppy whining every 3 hours didn't help either.
The little monster is sleeping right now, so I can actually take my eyes off him for a few minutes. I'm dog tired!
We took the two dogs for a walk and for the first time Sally didn't give Linus the evil eye for touching her. He walked so much better when he could walk right next to her. We only made it down our road and back, I had to carry him part way.
He had a bath and looked so pathetic, even fell asleep while being blow dried. Took all of 10 minutes to bath him, not like the hours it takes to do Sally.
We took him to Kerry's work to meet the guys, it's funny to see big, burly men crawling around the floor to see the puppy. Of course, Linus christened the office floor. Which makes 4 accidents today. He also met the dogs and cats that live next door, 4 Shelties and 2 cats, he was so scared.
He/We had a busy day.

Silly US!

My dad knew a guy whose Golden Retriever had 9 puppies, one of which was born without a tail. We laughed and said that would be the one we'd get. But we weren't in the market for a dog, we've got our Sally. Then the puppies were being sold, one by one, for $400. We asked around to a few people we knew and no one wanted any. More pictures of puppies came our way, and we had developed a big thick wall around our hearts! No puppies here. Not now. Then we got word that no one wanted the little guy without the tail. WAAAAHHHH.

Dad's friend said he'd give us a good deal, $150 if we wanted him. Well, duh, who would turn down a purebred Golden Retriever for that price. No, not us...

And now meet Linus. He's so cute. He smells bad, he likes to chew and I'm sure he'll poop somewhere unwanted soon. But he's soooo cute. Sally's not sure what to make of him, gives him lots of room when she walks into a room he might be in. But she did let him sit on the same seat as her in the van, but I think she was just so happy to go for a van ride she didn't notice that she almost sat on his head.

I will be rudely reminded tonight about the joys of puppyhood. I may never get over this cold, but at least I'll have the love of two pups!

Holy Speedy Connection, Batman!

The Shaw guy just came because we had a problem last week and our connection was week. When he came he had a new modem, and said Shaw was phasing out the blue ones. WHAT? Our's isn't blue, it's black and we've had it for maybe 8 years. So the big black monster got replaced with a smaller, cuter model. And the guy says now the internet will be 2x faster.
So as I was just contimplating with Yo, does this mean I can surf twice as much in the same amount of time, or surf the same amount in half the time? Either way, will my housework get done faster?

Ahhhhh...

As you lay in the 'sun spot' on the futon, having a peaceful nap at my feet, it's hard to believe only hours ago you were an embarassing, disappointing girl. Sure puppy Jake is a big oaf, but he just wants to play, he likes you, not too sure why. But you are so sophisticated and above playing with dogs that everytime he came near you in his playful stance, you ripped him a new one. Oddly enough, he kept trying, his grandmommy said it's because he's dumb, I think it's because he knew if he kept trying he might get you to loosen up, but you didn't. Maybe next time. Add this to your almost taking off DM's hand yesterday and you should be looking for a new home, good thing you're cute.

I'd like to thank the little people...

that's right, props to the little blondies.
Thank you, L and A for reminding me...
- why I stopped at 2 kids.
- why it's good to stay healthy and 'fit'(to run around after little kids).
- that it's okay to have a big snack after lunch, because you need the energy.
- that little kids are more resiliant than they look, they can fall on their knees 10 times and get up, where as if I did it once, that would be it for me.
- that it's okay to go down the big tube slide and get the dust of a million years all over your yoga pants, because little people don't care, they are just thrilled and amazed your fat ass fit down the slide.
- that I really won't fall thru the tire bridge and that fear is an illusion only big people have.

Thank you for reminding me to play, even though I have work to do.
Yo, you own me big time, even though I learned stuff today, got some fresh air and exercise, and you took home a pile of my kids crap! Between you and Cheryl, my house will be so empty!

Crap

Did anyone else notice that I left my little container of dessert at Olympia? I was so tempted to turn around and drive the 2 blocks back to get it, but I didn't. And now Kerry is giving me the evil eye!

Spring Ahead

Don't forget about the time change. My ever-thoughtful hubby changed all the clocks at 8 pm. tonight, while I was having my evening nap so that I can watch MadTV. So when I woke up it was after 9 and I knew it was around 7 that I closed my big brown eyes. So I was in shock when I woke up thinking I had been asleep for 2 hours!
I found him downstairs in my craft room, no, not stamping, but watching the Beck Mongolian Chop Squad marathon. The WHAT? Until today, we didn't know what it was either, it's another Japanese anime. Only no one has special powers, no one comes from the feudal era, flies a robot, or has died and been brought back by a family member, nope, it's normal, everyday life stuff of a group of teens that make a band.
Don't forget that when you change your clocks back you are supposed to change your ceiling fans too. They should be going clockwise now. Spring ahead, Fall back.

The ENABLER!

That darn Cheryl O., she's a sneaky snake!
I have always wanted Mary Janes, but the conservative side of me, which is my whole side, said GROW UP. But when Cheryl posted her MJs on her blog, I said "They will be mine. Oh yes. They will be mine", in my best Wayne's World voice...which is my real voice. Kerry and I had a mock date night and ended up at the mall, held hands and everything.(although I did ask which hand was the germ free hand, I didn't want to push my luck with the whole germ thing, I wanted new shoes, so I'm not that stupid). We actually just wandered around the mall. We started and ended at Sport Chek, they have some really nice stuff in there now. Millions of Crocs...And sooooo...drum roll please...

They are mine...All mine...BWAAAHAAAHAAAHa!

They will be my Going-Out-of-the-House Crocs, as opposed to my bright green w/rhinestones nes that are the Mom-Please-Don't-Go-Out-in-Those Crocs.

If you had told me a year ago that I would have casual and dressy Crocs, I would have said "Gag me, those ugly things!?!"

I'm so spoiled.

How to waste a morning 101

1. read your list of favourite blogs while eating breakfast, think this is good, multi-tasking.

2. find freebies to download to PS 7, start downloading while thinking you hit the motherload. (or is it lode?)

3. try to find where on your computer you downloaded your freebies to.

4. tell yourself you will only play in PS for a few minutes.

5. realize half the day is shot because you had to play in this stupid, but amazing program.

6. post your 3rd entry for today on your blog because you are so darn impressed with yourself for being able to figure one more PS thing out.
Can you hear the cheering? Can you see how pleased with myself I am? Can you see my son freaking out?
On a totally different note...this sharing of the germs is going to bite me on the ass...Kerry maybe coming home early. We were supposed to go get the passports done tonight, but who wants to sit in a close confined area with Mr. Snotnose Germieface? Not me! I know better than to breath in while infected people are around me, too bad he didn't know that!

I made this!

The secretary at Emily's school is retiring and today is her last day. She also comes to classes and is a customer. She's such a fun lady! Anyway, I wanted to make something special for her but because I had been under the weather, I didn't get around to starting until yesterday. And then things weren't going as planned and I could make what I originally wanted to do. So this is what I ended up with...I seriously considered changing my name to JELLI so that I could keep it.
The circle on the front has a magnet on the back so she can use it for other things, the J is covered with craft ink and embossed with clear EP, and the big clippy can be a bookmark. The RSVP pen is lined with matching paper and held in place with the thick organdy ribbon. The list says "Things to do...call Kelli about calligraphy classes" I want to learn how to print so that I can read my own handwriting and J. can teach me. If anyone else is interested, she will put a class together for us.
I asked Emily if she would take the fancy present, which I put in a lovely little bag that I hand stamped and filled with pink and white tissue paper, to Mrs. M or if I should run it over later and she said she would do it on one condition, she wants one too. What she doesn't realize is that I made her one last year but I guess because it's not nearly as snazzy as this one, she doesn't recognize it.

Spring Mini Cards

I'm feeling quite a bit better, I managed to share my head cold. Isn't there a saying about how sharing makes you feel better? Except that I gave it to Kerry and now he snores, which wakes me up and makes me grumpy and tired. Which will make me sick again. So really sharing isn't always a good thing.

While I felt better, I made a few cards with the new Spring mini sets that I got. All 2 of them. I ended up with new punches and pounds of paper, but only 2 stamp sets. So I ordered more this week, a new baby set of all things. So if you are reading this and are thinking about having a baby, get a move on it, I have the perfect set to make shower invites and other baby related things.

Cross your fingers and hope that today our baby pandas get here! Emily and I have been counting down the days until our frivolous ebay purchase gets here. Webkinz are the new Neopets/Tamagotchis/Little Petshop things at our house.

66 lbs of rubber

3 boxes and 66 lbs. later, my last SAB order just got here!

I'm off to sort through the goodies. Unfortunately not much is for me, just some adhesives, cardstock and ink. But it's all good.

I'll post the cards I've been working on after I get the boxes sorted.

Growing Up.

Today was a big day in the whole scheme of raising a child. It was RENT THE TUX FOR PROM DAY.
After Shaun came to work with me, because I can do that with the job I have, we went to Black and Lee and he picked out a tux. Nothing flashy, although all the tuxes are flashy when you think about it. Satin stripes down the legs and satin on the lapel and shiny shoes. He did say No Pinstripes(too gansta), No Cumberbund(too groom), Not A White Tux(too lame), and No Pink. Well, his date's dress is fushia so the last one got nixed and he ended up with a striped fushia tie and fushia pocket square.
So the guy measures him and hands him all the trimmings and off he goes for what seems like an eternity to try the stuff on. And it must have been a freakin' long time because out of the change room dressed in a snappy white shirt, flashy satin striped black pants and super shiny shoes came a MAN!!! Not my kid, not my boy! OMG Who snuck in and stole my kid? Even thinking about it now I get all weepy. I did good though, I didn't cry in the store, but I wanted to.
So now he has the tux rented, the date lined up, and has been accepted to the Culinary Arts program at OC.
And just yesterday he was wearing a bunny suit!

Under pressure

The local scrapbook store, www.memorycrafts.ca, posts challenges every once in a long while and the one for this week was to do a layout about today and there was a list of questions to answer. So I did this page today. I wasn't entirely happy with it until I added the brads. It's not my favourite but it will do.

Quick and Easy

Want a quick and easy gift? Or a cute little album just because you deserve one? Get one of these On Board Bitty Books by SU! I am getting more so that I can make gifts for the grandparents. I think they would be super cute baby gifts, now if I knew someone that was having a baby, I'd be set.
I didn't order one, but Heather had an extra, so last week she came over and we put them together. They appeal to my attraction to all things mini. Bigger isn't always better.
The pages measure 3 1/4 square, a great use for scraps. I podged the whole album and sleeve using SU's new Petals and Paisleys paper. I love it.
The pictures are from our little trip to Vancouver last summer.
