Look over there...

on the right, my little counter thingy is at/over 3000(right now it's 2999 but if I go away and come back, it will be 3000. I realize that 2700 of those views are mine but still that means someone is looking and just not posting. Anyway, that's a good enough reason for a give away if I ever saw one.
Comment on which you prefer and help me out...we're painting the interior walls in the near future. I can't decide what to do. We have a Mellow Moss green living room, a Barn Red Kitchen/Dining area and Tan 'hallway'.(if you check previous posts you might see the colours we have now) I think we are keeping the Barn Red kitchen but the rest is being repainted. I can't decide on ... Neutrals or Colours and if I do colours, do I want bright, subtle, matching? If I change the colours drastically that means new curtains in the living room. The flooring will be an oaky hardwood, how's that for vague colouring? Cupboards are oak. Trim will be white. If it makes a difference, the living room is north facing, dining south.
What do you think? Comment and I'll get a kid to pick the winner on Sunday.

Updated: Check this out! My first delivery from BROWN!!! Delivery man had new, crisp brown clothes.

I don't have any specific color recommendations but I hear that the cooler tones are "in" now...not beige.

I like 'colour'.. and not real out there 'colour' but subtle... I don't like a whole lot of neutral/beige.. it is kinda blah...

I'm the worse for picking out colours. All I know is that if you want to invite more light in then you need to go with a lighter colour. A north facing room might need something along the lighter colours. I hear greyish tones are in but not sure if that will go with your moss green/barnyard red. When you figure out what you are doing let me know. I've been trying to pick a colour for years w/o success.

Grey? Ugh, that's was hubby's first choice when I said we had to paint.

I would like tans and browns and greens to go with your barn red kitchen... but, that's just me. And I would like the prize because, well, I just don't win things. And, perhaps Brown is scared of you now because he saw you hiding out in your living room taking pictures of him!

I think if you are sticking with the barn red (excellent choice by the way....I have it in my livingroom) anyway I would go with earth tones for the rooms you want to change. I would lighten the hallway to something between the tan you have now and an eggshell and go with a darker green in the livingroom. I love greens so I may just be biased....but maybe you wouldn't have to change the curtains and rugs.... Good luck in whatever you decide on....

Mississippi Mud! I think brown tones, not like your bedroom, but lighter and rich.

I would recommend watching DIY!(tee hee) They make it look so simple. I would use a soft color on the walls and add elements of colors to bring all the rooms together. Use mirrors and metal helps bring the light in also.
Thanks for a chance.

I love Khaki colored walls. I just do. And they match Zanything. Hubby and I like to do a faux finish. It's quite easy to do!

A slate blue color is very "in" right now. In fact, I would do that and then stamp the walls here and there. I just stamped my walls (see my blog for photos) and I love it! Good luck deciding what to do!

Darker neutral shades are really nice...the colours you already have would match so you wouldn't have to get new everything to with the paint!!! :)

I have a dark barn red trim on all the doors and woodwork on my first floor. That gives you continuity. Then you can go with various neutral tones of cream to tan and not go wrong. I also have sponged two rooms in a cream of beige but whatever two colors you pick they must be VERY close.

To me there is nothing prettier than white trim and cocoa walls. Congratulations on the blog, it's wonderful.

I tend to go with Neutrals, so I don't get bored with it and have to do it again for a very long time. How fun though to change things up a bit. Maybe go get some samples or swatches and play around with that with the different times of day lighting. :)))

I can see a nice golden yellow on those walls, especially with the barn red. Wish I was brave enough to do the red on the walls!

Even weirder...I was in the basement, not the living room taking pictures of Brown, so it was underground picture taking!

I love color too! How about a warm Amber-ish color???? :)

My sister & her husband should be interier designers because their home always looks like it belongs in House Beautiful magazine. They have barn red furniture in the family room and recently painted their walls a harvest gold, (sort of a dark mustard color) and it looks just gorgeous with the red.

I'm into warm earthtone colors....soft mocha fudge, sweet sticky caramel, burnt orange siesta, butterscotch pudding, apple cider crisp, you get my drift. hehehe no those are not actual paint names, I just get a minds picture when I put food names to them.

I say try something new!! Go with a completely unexpected color for real wow! ;-)

It might depend on if your floors & furniture will be light or dark, if they're dark and you put dark colour everywhere you may find it too heavy. If floors are light, I think any colour would look nice. I think you should figure out what makes you feel good. I myself love subtle (not bright), but deep dark saturated colours, or colours that deepen at night. Once I painted my whole place in hint of pink (which is basically whitish), can you say ICK??? too light, it kept me awake lol. I love living in soft warm colours with warm cozy undertones. p.s. my bosses picked out 3 greys to paint the new office spaces, doors, trims different to battleship grey walls...CAN YOU SAY DOUBLE ICK??? depressing. Blue grays are more in, as are chocolate and blues mixed... pick something you love to live in and enjoy it, it's up to you. good luck! :) inherited khaki walls that turn into Olive Green soft and enveloping at night, neato! bluemoonbynite@yahoo.com

an antiqued yellow/goldish old world soft colour living room would look really nice and warm next to the red kitchen ? just nothing metallic... idea just hit me lol :)
